COW SHARES

How cow share ownership works

Step 1 – Reserve Your Share

Choose a whole cow, half share, or quarter share and place a deposit to own your very own cow and reserve your spot in our harvest schedule. We’ll match your share with a specific animal at Wind Fall Farms.

Step 2 – You are the Cow Owner while We Raise and Schedule Processing

We continue to finish your animal on grass until it reaches harvest weight. Then we deliver it to our trusted local processor, where it is humanely harvested and dry-aged.

Step 3 – You Choose Your Cut Instructions

You’ll work directly with the processor to choose how you want your beef cut and wrapped: steaks, roasts, ground beef, stew meat, etc. We’ll guide you through typical options if you’re new.

Step 4 – Pay Outstanding Balance, Pick Up Your Beef & Fill Your Freezer

Once the hang weight is measured, you’ll pay the remaining balance based on that weight and then you can pick it up from the processor once beef has been aged, cut, and packaged. You leave with a year’s worth of beef, neatly packaged and frozen.

RESERVE YOUR BEEF. OWN A WHOLE, HALF, OR QUARTER COW SHARE.

What's in a Beef Share?

Submit Your Cut Sheet When Time For Processing

From a Typical Share, You Can Expect:

  • Steaks: ribeye, T-bone/NY strip, sirloin, filet (depending on how you have it cut)
  • Roasts: chuck, rump, sirloin tip, arm roast
  • Ground beef: a large portion of your share (often 35–50% of the take-home weight
  • Stew meat, short ribs, soup bones, and more (if you choose to keep them)

Freezer Space Guide:

Most families underestimate freezer space. Plan for approximately:

  • Quarter share: 3–5 cubic feet
  • Half share: 7–10 cubic fee
  • Whole cow: 14–20 cubic feet

If you’re buying a new freezer, a .7–10 cu ft chest freezer is usually perfect for a half share in a family kitchen or garage
