FAQ - Common Questions About Buying a Cow

Q: I’ve never bought a cow before. Can you help me through the process?

Yes. We walk you through each step, including selecting a share size, understanding hanging weight, and filling out your cut sheet with the processor.

Q: Is Wind Fall Beef really 100% grass-fed & finished?

Yes. Our cattle eat nothing but grass, hay, and natural forage. No grain. Ever.

Q: Is your beef organic?

We are not currently USDA Certified Organic, so we do not use that label. Our cattle are 100% grass-fed and pasture-finished, raised without grain, and we avoid synthetic pesticides and herbicides on our pastures.

Q: Why should I buy a whole/half/quarter instead of grocery store beef?

Because you deserve:

  • Better quality
  • Lower price per pound
  • Total transparency
  • Cuts tailored to your family
  • Peace of mind about what you’re eating

Q: Why do your beef shares sell out?

Because we refuse to mass-produce. We raise a limited number of cattle each season to maintain top-tier quality.

Q: How long do you age your beef?

We dry-age for 14–21 days, which produces rich flavor and exceptional tenderness.

Q: Do you ship beef?

At this time, we focus on serving local families. Beef is picked up directly from our processing partner after it has been harvested, aged, and cut to your instructions.

Q: Can I split a share with friends or family?

Absolutely. Many customers split a half or whole cow among friends or relatives. One person pays us and the processor, and you divide the beef however you like.

Q1: How long will the beef last and Q2: how long will it stay good in my freezer?

A1: Most families enjoy 9–12 months of meals from a single share.

A2: Well-wrapped beef stored in a good, cold freezer (0°F or below) can easily last a year or more in excellent condition. Vacuum-sealed packaged beef can last even longer.

This is beef you’ll feel proud feeding your family.
